Free degree calculator: the exact degree of every planet, your Rising and Midheaven, with critical degrees, the anaretic 29th degree, and the degree-theory fame and wealth degrees explained.
A degree is a position inside a sign, and the position matters twice. First, it is what transits and other people’s planets actually touch: a Saturn transit is exact at a degree, not at a sign. Second, traditional astrology reads some degrees as charged: the critical degrees by modality, the anaretic 29th, and the zero degree. The calculator lists every placement with its exact degree and minute so you can see both at once, and marks the charged ones so nothing has to be counted by hand.
Degree theory adds a sign tone to each number. The Leo degrees, 5, 17 and 29, are the ones the videos call fame degrees; the Taurus degrees, 2, 14 and 26, are read as wealth degrees; 22 is the Capricorn degree with the dramatic nickname. The calculator shows the tone for every placement and lists which of yours land on the named degrees. Treat the tones as colour: the exact degree is measurement, and the reading that follows uses the measurement.
Your Sun sits at a degree from 0 to 29 inside its sign, plus minutes. Enter your birth date, time and place above and the table shows it, along with every other placement. The Sun, Moon and planets need only the date; the Rising and Midheaven need the time.
Degree theory reads 5°, 17° and 29° as Leo degrees and calls them the fame degrees; the same reading treats 2°, 14° and 26° as Taurus degrees, the wealth degrees. This calculator flags any placement on them and says plainly that a degree is a tone, not a promise: what the placement does is in its sign, house and aspects.
The traditional critical degrees are 0, 13 and 26 in cardinal signs, 8, 9, 21 and 22 in fixed signs, and 4 and 17 in mutable signs, plus the anaretic 29th degree in any sign. A placement on one is read as turned up. The calculator marks each one in your chart.
A modern reading, popularised by Nikola Stojanovic, that assigns a sign to each degree: 1 is Aries, 2 Taurus, on to 12 Pisces, then the cycle repeats from 13, with 25 to 29 running Aries to Leo and 0 read as the raw start of the sign. It colours a placement; it does not replace the sign it is actually in.
