What is zodiacal releasing?
A timing technique from Vettius Valens (2nd century) that divides your life into periods ruled by the zodiac signs, starting from a Lot in your birth chart. Each sign rules a general period whose length is its planetary period in years (Aries 15, Taurus 8, Gemini 20, Cancer 25, Leo 19, Virgo 20, Libra 8, Scorpio 15, Sagittarius 12, Capricorn 27, Aquarius 30, Pisces 12), subdivided into sub-periods of the same numbers in months. This calculator computes all of it from your exact birth data.
Which Lot should I release from?
Release from the Lot of Spirit for career, action and what you do; from the Lot of Fortune for the body, circumstance and what happens to you; from the Lot of Eros for love and desire. The calculator shows all three, with Spirit first because it is the one most videos are teaching.
What is a peak period in zodiacal releasing?
A period whose sign is angular to the Lot: the 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th sign counted from it. The 10th sign from the Lot is the strongest, the culmination of the sequence, and the calculator dates your next one at the sub-period level so it falls within years you will live through.
What is the loosing of the bond?
When a sequence of sub-periods completes all twelve signs and would return to the sign it started from, it jumps to the opposite sign instead. Valens treats that jump as a major pivot, often a change of direction in career or life. The calculator shows the exact date of your next one.
Do I need my birth time for zodiacal releasing?
Yes. Every Lot is built from the Ascendant, which moves a degree every four minutes. Without a birth time the calculator casts a noon chart and says so; the periods it shows then can be off by a whole sign.
How are the dates computed?
A general period is the sign's number of years at 365.25 days each; a sub-period is the same number of months at 30.44 days; a level-3 period the same number in units of 2.54 days. Starting from the Lot's sign at the birth instant (converted from your birthplace timezone), the calculator walks the signs in order, applies the loosing of the bond at each level, and marks every period by its count from the Lot.
