Free chart hemisphere calculator: see whether your planets cluster northern/southern and eastern/western, find your dominant quadrant, and what the emphasis means.
What hemisphere emphasis shows
Where individual placements describe the parts of you, hemisphere emphasis describes the overall orientation of the whole chart. Two lines divide the wheel: the horizon (above versus below) and the meridian (the Ascendant side versus the Descendant side). Counting how your planets fall across those halves gives a fast read on which direction your life energy naturally points.
The four hemispheres
A southern (above-horizon) emphasis runs outward — visible, public, and goal-facing. A northern (below-horizon) emphasis runs inward — private, subjective, and foundational. An eastern emphasis is self-determined: you tend to initiate and shape your own circumstances. A western emphasis is relationship-shaped: life tends to arrive through other people, timing, and response.
Reading your dominant quadrant
The quadrants sharpen the picture into four stages: houses 1-3 build the self, 4-6 build security, 7-9 meet the world, and 10-12 serve the wider world. Your dominant quadrant is where the most planets gather and where your focus lives. The opposite, emptier half of the chart is usually the growth edge — the mode you under-use and can develop on purpose.
