What is a singleton planet in astrology?
A singleton is a planet that is the only one of its kind in a category, for example the only planet in a water sign or the only planet in cardinal signs. Because nothing else shares that quality, the singleton carries the entire weight of that energy on its own and often behaves like a pressure valve, giving it outsized influence over how you act, react, and make decisions.
How is my element and modality balance calculated?
We take all ten major planets from your Sun through Pluto, read the sign each one sits in, and tally them by element (fire, earth, air, water) and by modality (cardinal, fixed, mutable). Whichever element and modality hold the most planets is your dominant energy, and whichever holds the fewest or none is your growth edge. We also split the planets by polarity, Yang versus Yin, and by hemisphere to show where your focus naturally leans.
What does it mean to lack an element?
A lacking element is one with few or no planets in it. It does not mean you cannot access that quality, it means the quality does not come automatically, so under stress you tend to over-rely on your dominant element instead. Naming the missing element shows you exactly which strength is worth building on purpose so the whole chart feels more balanced.
